Welding Engineer

PWM Dynamics is seeking a Welding Engineer to support the development, optimization, and quality of welding processes used in hydraulic cylinders and advanced manufacturing. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, production, quality, and manufacturing teams to improve weld quality, efficiency, and reliability.

Responsibilities

Develop, qualify, and maintain welding procedures (WPS/PQR).

Provide technical guidance on SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and automated/robotic welding processes.

Support welding of hydraulic cylinders, pressure-retaining components, and high-strength materials.

Investigate weld defects, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

Provide manufacturing and design input related to weld joints, materials, heat treatment, and weldability.

Interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, material specifications, and applicable standards.

Support continuous improvement of welding processes, quality, and production efficiency.

Ensure welding activities meet applicable AWS, ASME, ISO, and customer requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or a heavy industrial environment; hydraulic or pressure-retaining equipment experience is an asset.

Strong knowledge of welding processes, metallurgy, weldability, and procedure development.

Experience with WPS/PQR development and qualification.

Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols.

Preferred

Experience with robotic/automated welding and high-strength steels.

Knowledge of ASME Section IX, AWS, or ISO 3834.

Experience with weld design, fatigue considerations, and pressure-retaining components.

NDT experience or Level II/III certification is an asset.

CWI, CWEng, or related welding certification is an asset.
