Recreation Services Supervisor

As the Recreation Supervisor, you'll lead programming, staffing, and operations at the Yara Centre, delivering exceptional recreation, fitness, and sport opportunities for our community. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, organize, deliver and evaluate city recreation, fitness, and special event programs within budget.  Assist with facilities, third-party agreements, and coordinating maintenance work.
• Supervise recreation staff including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, performance appraisals and discipline.  Lead a safety-focused culture adhering to OH&S regulations.
• Build cooperative relationships with local groups, non-profits, and volunteer organizations.  Provide consultative advice to the community on recreation and fitness.
• Assist with department budgets, operational reports, purchasing, and policy development.
• Maintain accurate records, analyze trends and serve as Manager in their absence.
• Model and promote a positive inclusive workplace culture aligned with City core values.
• Compiles and maintains program reports, confidential management reports, records and quarterly reports

QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree or Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in the field of Recreation Administration or equivalent.
• Two years experience related to municipal recreation programming, scheduling, recreation leadership, community development practices and public relations.
• Two years experience in a supervisory role.
• Class 5 drivers license and vehicle available to use for work purposes.
• Experience with Windows based systems and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of recreation facility management and OH&S regulations.
• Strong leadership, communication, public speaking and interpersonal skills.
