Who we are

The Government of Yukon's Continuing Care division is known for its exceptional standards, providing clients with the highest level of care and a healthy workplace for staff. The services offered are among the best in Canada, and Yukon’s long-term care homes ranked second in a recent report issued by the National Institute on Ageing. Continuing Care’s mission is to provide comprehensive care and services, including long-term care, home care, and regional therapy services, to the people of the Yukon.

This opportunity

Our philosophy of care is “Every action and decision performed by this position is founded on respect for the residents, for the promotion of their dignity, individual freedom, choice and lifestyle, and meaningful quality living.”

As a Continuing Care Security Officer, your goal is to ensure this facility remains safe and secure for residents, families, employees, and the public. You’ll be part of a supportive interdisciplinary health care team working to create a safe workplace for staff and a place the residents call home.

Reporting to Manager, Safety & Security, this position is responsible for maintaining the security of the long-term care home and its residents, staff and visitors as well as the facility assets and grounds. This position requires a combination of strong interpersonal skills as well as an eye for detail. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong client service with an ability to remain professional and tactful in challenging situations (e.g., emergency response or conflict situations). The Security Officer may assist Maintenance Persons and other staff as needed.
