Community Health Nurse Mobile

This competition is to fill one permanent full-time position working 75 hours bi-weekly.

This job is based in the community of Haines Junction and travels to the communities of Beaver Creek and Destruction Bay in beautiful Yukon.

Your role

As the Community Health Nurse Mobile, you will provide community-based nursing care and targeted health promotion and wellness services in communities throughout the Yukon. Working collaboratively with other programs and community partners, you will promote health, prevent illness, and support community capacity building. In this role, you will deliver a broad range of preventative health services, including health screening and assessment, immunizations, health education, consultation, and counselling for individuals and groups. Key areas of practice include immunization programs, sexual health services, prenatal and postnatal support, communicable disease prevention and management, and other initiatives designed to improve the overall health and wellness of Yukon communities.

Essential Qualifications

• Current registration with a Canadian registered nursing regulatory authority
• Recent experience in Community Health Nursing
• Recent experience in public health nursing or related field with emphasis on immunization, health protection, illness prevention, breastfeeding education, health promotion and community development.

• Recent TB Screening

• Valid Driver’s License
• Current Yukon RN registration in good standing
• Current Heart & Stroke BLS
• WHMIS 2015 (completed within 30 days of hire)

Job Requirements

• Travel within the territory by road as required, including driving in varying road, weather, and winter conditions.
• Frequent driving on Yukon highways and within communities
• Providing nursing care both health centres and in community
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Frequent bending, lifting, and moving of equipment and supplies.
