About this role
This senior, hands-on supervisory role is responsible for coordinating machine shop, hydraulic repair and electroplating operations from initial inspection through repair, finishing, assembly and testing.
Responsibilities include supervising and scheduling employees, assigning and monitoring jobs, evaluating incoming repairs, determining repair methods, estimating labour and materials, preparing quotations, ordering materials and replacement components, communicating with customers, monitoring job costs and maintaining accurate production information.
The supervisor will oversee machining, honing, grinding, polishing, welding, fabrication and hydraulic cylinder repair. Duties include reviewing drawings, dimensions and tolerances; evaluating damaged rods, barrels and other components; determining whether parts should be repaired, machined, plated, manufactured or replaced; troubleshooting difficult repairs; and ensuring completed work meets quality requirements.
The position will also provide technical support for hard chrome and zinc electroplating, including plating preparation and setup, troubleshooting, process development, quality improvement and employee training. The supervisor will help develop and document improved shop procedures, maintain an organized and efficient workplace, and support continuous improvement throughout production.
Candidates should have approximately 10 years of relevant experience in machining, industrial repair, metalworking or electroplating, with supervisory or technical leadership experience. Professional electroplating training and hands-on hard chrome experience are strong assets. Candidates with a strong combination of the above experience will be considered.
