About the Role
Reporting to the Mine Engineering Manager, the Geotechnical Engineer provides geotechnical support for conventional mining operations through investigation, design, monitoring, and risk assessment of mining excavations. The role partners closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Capital, Mine Development, and Mine Production teams.
Key Responsibilities
Perform geotechnical analysis, design, and instrumentation activities.
Deliver geotechnical and geological training and presentations.
Collaborate with supervisors, contractors, engineers, and planners.
Incorporate risk analysis into assigned work.
Coordinate inspections, surveys, and monitoring programs to ensure operational performance and safety.
Report findings, recommend corrective actions, and track implementation.
Partner with Operations, Environmental, Permitting, and Engineering teams on geotechnical capital projects.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering (Geotechnical, Civil, Environmental, Mining, Chemical, or related field).
Experience Levels
Engineer I: 0-2 years (co-op/internship experience acceptable)
Engineer II: 2+ years engineering or operations experience in manufacturing/industrial environments
Engineer III: 4+ years related experience
Senior Engineer: 8+ years related experience
Preferred
Industrial operations or heavy construction experience
Project management experience
Ability to read engineering drawings
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Underground supervisory experience and potash mining experience are assets
