Directional Drilling Locator

Subterra HDD is hiring an experienced Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Locator to join our team.

We offer competitive wages, overtime opportunities, living-out allowance, and long weekends and holidays off. Applicants must be willing to travel throughout Saskatchewan and work extended hours (12+ hours/day). Projects within the next year + are located within 1 hour of Regina, SK.

Responsibilities

• Locate and track drill heads during HDD operations
• Monitor bore depth, pitch and direction to ensure accurate drilling
• Communicate with drill operators to guide pilot bores safely and efficiently
• Identify underground utilities, obstacles and potential drilling hazards
• Assist with bore planning, reaming and product pullbacks
• Operate, inspect and maintain locating equipment
• Assist with drilling fluids, tooling changes and general crew duties
• Follow safe work practices and participate in required HSE activities

Qualifications

• Previous HDD locating experience required
• Experience operating Digi-Trak F5 locating systems an asset
• Strong understanding of HDD procedures, bore planning and underground utilities
• Valid Class 5 license and clean driver's abstract; Class 1A preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• First Aid/CPR-C, H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance II, SCOT, WHMIS/TDG and Pipeline Construction Safety Training (or equivalent) preferred
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Able to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
