We have been hard at work making JobAds.ca more comfortable to use, more polished, and easier on the eyes. Here is a look at what is new.
Site-Wide Dark Mode
The most requested feature is finally here. Dark mode is now available across every page on JobAds.ca, from the homepage and search results to job details, the interactive map, employer profiles, and your dashboard.
To turn it on, sign up for a free account (or log in if you already have one), click your avatar in the top-right corner, and select "Dark Mode" from the dropdown. Your preference is saved to your account, so it will follow you across devices and sessions.
We paid close attention to the details. The homepage hero swaps to a beautiful night photo of the Saskatchewan skyline. The logo switches to a white version. Cards, filters, charts, and even map popups all adapt to a consistent dark palette. There is no flash of the wrong theme when you load a page either. It just works.
Redesigned Homepage Hero
The homepage got a visual refresh. The hero banner now features a clean, bold layout with a large "Find Your Next Job" heading and an "in Western Canada" subtitle. We tested several design variations before settling on this one. It is simpler, more modern, and puts the focus where it belongs: on finding your next opportunity.
Improved Categories and Industries Pages
The Browse by Category and Browse by Industry pages have been polished for both light and dark mode. Category cards, search filters, sort buttons, and the expandable job lists under each industry all look clean and consistent no matter which theme you are using.
Job Detail Page Polish
The job detail page received several fixes. Meta information (location, employment type, education), the contact section, and requirements all display properly in dark mode now. No more white patches or mismatched backgrounds.
Search Results Touch-Ups
When you hover over job cards in search results with dark mode active, the hover effect is now subtle and clean. Labels, employer names, and wage badges all look crisp against the darker background.
How to Get Dark Mode
Dark mode is a feature for registered users. Creating an account is free and takes about 30 seconds. Just head to the Register page at https://jobads.ca/register, verify your email, and log in. Once you are signed in, the dark mode toggle will appear in your avatar dropdown on every page.
