Something small but meaningful just shipped: bookmarks. You can now save any job on JobAds.ca and come back to it later, from any device, with your account.
This has been the number-one feature request from candidates using the site. If you have ever browsed on your phone at lunch, found something good, and then had no way to get back to it that evening on your laptop, bookmarks are for you.
How it works
On every job page there is now a small bookmark icon sitting right next to the job title. Tap it once and the job is saved. Tap it again to remove it. That's the whole thing.
- If you are signed in, the icon fills in emerald and the job is added to your list on the server.
- If you are not signed in, the icon shows a tooltip explaining you need an account, and tapping it takes you to the free registration page. As soon as you register, bookmarks are yours forever.
Where to find them
Once you have bookmarked a few jobs, there are three places they show up:
- Your dashboard at jobads.ca/dashboard. The Recent Bookmarks card on the right shows your four most recent saves with a link to see the rest.
- The dedicated Bookmarks page at jobads.ca/bookmarks. This lists every job you have ever bookmarked, newest first, with the same photo panel styling as the rest of the site so you can scan them quickly. It paginates at 20 per page.
- Your avatar menu in the top right of every page. Bookmarks now sits between My Profile and Dark Mode, so it is one click from anywhere on the site.
What we deliberately did not do
We did not add any tags, folders, or organization tools. Not yet. The goal for this first version was simple and fast: one tap saves the job, one tap unsaves it. If people tell us they want to organize their bookmarks into folders (Nursing, Trucking, Remote, etc.), we will build that. Reach out via Help if that would be useful for you.
Why we built this
Two reasons:
- Job hunting takes time, and good jobs disappear. The average posting on JobAds.ca is active for about three weeks before the apply-by date passes. If you find something promising on Tuesday and want to think about it, prepare a resume, or talk it over with a partner, you need a reliable way to get back to it. Bookmarks give you exactly that.
- Cross-device continuity. A lot of visitors browse on their phone during downtime and want to apply from a proper keyboard later. Bookmarks are tied to your account, so a job you save on your phone shows up on your laptop when you sign in.
Free, always
Bookmarks (like everything else on JobAds.ca for job seekers) are free and always will be. You can save as many jobs as you want, keep them forever, and remove them any time.
Ready to try it?
Head to Browse Jobs, open any listing, and tap the bookmark icon next to the title. Then check /bookmarks to see it there.
If you are not yet registered, creating a free account takes about 30 seconds. Bookmarks are one of about a dozen features that unlock when you do (job alerts, saved filters, application tracking, and more).
As always, if you run into anything odd or have ideas for what to build next, our Help page has a way to reach us.
