The opportunity…

The Compensation and Classification branch provides professional and integrated classification, compensation, pay, payroll, pension and benefit administration services to support fair, equitable and consistent compensation for Yukon public service employees. We also administer the terms and conditions of employment for management employees.

The Pay & Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering and processing employee benefit and compensation entitlements in accordance with collective agreements, as well as federal and territorial legislation and policies. Working in a team environment Pay & Benefit Specialists utilize various resources and computer applications to ensure employees receive correct remuneration and benefits, while supporting employees and departmental HR staff with pay, benefits and leave related matters.

Essential Qualifications

  • Completed coursework in Human Resources, Business Administration, Payroll/Compensation, or an equivalent program;
  • Experience working in a fast-paced office setting, processing high volumes of information and documentation (preferably in a human resource, finance, or pay and benefits environment);
  • Experience using a variety of data-entry computer applications, such as PeopleSoft; and
  • Experience working with Collective Agreements or Acts and Regulations in either finance or human resources fields, would be considered an asset.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
