Women's Shelter Supervisor

The successful candidate will provide leadership to a team supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity while ensuring a safe, trauma-informed, culturally respectful, and welcoming environment. This temporary seasonal position will provide leadership and support to staff while ensuring effective daily operations and quality service delivery.

Responsibilities

•     Oversee daily operations of the Winter Warm-Up Location
•     Supervise, mentor, and support staff and volunteers
•     Coordinate client intake, referrals, and documentation
•     Ensure policies, procedures, and safety protocols are followed
•     Respond appropriately to emergencies and critical incidents
•     Promote a trauma-informed, culturally safe, and welcoming environment
•     Assist with staff scheduling and coordination
•     Maintain communication with community partners and emergency services
•     Prepare reports and maintain accurate records
•     Support staff in conflict resolution and de-escalation situations
•     Ensure a respectful, inclusive, and service-focused environment for guests and staff

Qualifications

•     Experience supervising staff or volunteers
•     Knowledge of trauma-informed care. harm reduction. and cultural safety practices
•     Experience working with vulnerable populations
•     Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
•     Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
•     Knowledge of homelessness, addictions, mental health, and community resources is an asset
•     Experience managing overnight operations and supervising staff in a community support setting, shelter, outreach program, or supportive housing environment is considered a strong asset
•     First Aid/CPR certification is an asset
•     Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check required

Shift work, including evenings, weekends, overnight shifts, and holidays will be required (9pm-7 am)
