POSITION SUMMARY
The General Manager provides strategic and operational direction to ensure the grocery store operates efficiently, delivers excellent customer service, maintains high standards of food safety and cleanliness, achieves sales and profitability targets, and provides a positive and respectful workplace.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the daily operations of the grocery store.
Monitor store opening, closing, security, and operational procedures.
Monitor product quality, freshness, expiry dates, and food-handling practices.
Monitor sales, expenses, cash handling, and overall store performance.
Oversee ordering and receiving of grocery products and supplies.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels based on sales and customer demand.
Develop and maintain effective loss prevention and theft reduction procedures.
Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and support store employees.
Promote a respectful, professional, and safe workplace.
Ensure employees receive appropriate training and understand store procedures.
Ensure the store operates in accordance with applicable health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Previous experience managing a grocery store, retail operation, convenience store, or similar business.
35 years of progressive management experience, preferably in retail or grocery operations.
Experience supervising and scheduling employees.
Strong computer skills and ability to operate point-of-sale and inventory systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
A CPIC and a valid driver's license are required.
