About this role
Pet Planet Prince Albert is looking for an outgoing, dependable and motivated person to join our team.
This is more than a cashier position. The successful candidate will be expected to learn about pet nutrition, wellness and the products we carry. They must be comfortable approaching customers, asking questions and recommending products based on each pets needs.
Applicants must be available to work evenings and weekends. Please do not apply if you cannot regularly meet these availability requirements.
Responsibilities
Show up reliably and arrive ready to work
Take initiative and stay productive without constant direction
Greet customers, ask questions and recommend suitable products
Learn about pet nutrition, wellness and sales
Operate the point-of-sale system and process purchases
Receive, unpack and stock merchandise
Organize shelves, maintain displays and assist with inventory
Help with cleaning and keeping the store organized
Work cooperatively with other team members
Qualifications
Dependable, punctual and committed to attending scheduled shifts
Outgoing and comfortable starting conversations with customers
Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Interested in learning about pet nutrition and wellness
Comfortable recommending and selling products
Able to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks
Retail, sales, customer-service or pet-product knowledge is an asset
Able to lift and move more than 50 lb
Able to stand for extended periods and perform bending, reaching and repetitive movements
Training will be provided.
