Courier Driver

• *Position Summary**

Under the direction of the IT/Business Manager, the Courier Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of mail, books, library materials, supplies, and equipment between Chinook Regional Library branches and designated locations.

• *Key Responsibilities**
• Follow scheduled courier routes to collect and deliver materials between branches.
• Coordinate pickups and deliveries with branch staff.
• Transport SILS bins, first-class mail, supplies, and equipment.
• Sort materials and prepare shipments for collection.
• Safely load, unload, and move materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Operate library vehicles safely and conduct routine vehicle inspections.
• Monitor fuel and vehicle condition, and report maintenance needs, accidents, or delivery issues.
• Use sound judgment when driving in adverse weather and postpone travel when conditions are unsafe.
• Complete timesheets and delivery records and perform other related duties as assigned.
• *Qualifications**
• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Valid driver's licence and satisfactory driving abstract.
• Satisfactory criminal record check.
• Safe driving experience and ability to travel throughout the CRL service area, including rural roads.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Basic computer skills, including email and electronic timesheets.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize safety.
• Knowledge of south-central Saskatchewan rural roads is an asset.
• Availability to occasionally cover other drivers.
• *Working Conditions**

Regular driving, lifting, loading, and unloading are required. Work involves varying road and weather conditions and may be full-time or part-time depending on operational needs.
