Community Emergency Response Team Lead

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Lead is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and evaluating emergency preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery activities for Waterhen Lake First Nation (WLFN). The position provides leadership to community-based emergency response initiatives and supports the development of a resilient, prepared, and coordinated response system that protects the health, safety, and well-being of community members.

The CERT Lead works collaboratively with Chief and Council, emergency responders, Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), Meadow Lake Tribal Council (MLTC), Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA), health services, security personnel, and community stakeholders.

Knowledge Required

Indigenous emergency management principles and practices

Incident Command System (ICS)

Emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation frameworks

Indigenous Services Canada emergency management programs and funding mechanisms

Education and Experience

Diploma or Degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Indigenous Governance, Health Sciences, or a related field

Minimum two (2) years of experience in emergency management, public safety, health emergency response, or related field

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Certifications

Incident Command System (ICS 100, 200, 300 and/or 400)

Emergency Management Certification

First Responder Certification

Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Training

Additional Requirements

Valid Class 5 Driver's License, with valid driver's abstract satisfactory to WLFN.
