Job Description & Responsibilities
At InterPro Pipe & Steel, the Melt Shop Supervisor is crucial for ensuring optimal performance and safety standards within the melt shop, directly impacting efficiency of our processes and overall success of steelmaking.

- Coordinate repairs, direct production activities and preventative maintenance with the Maintenance department.
- Coordinate and direct activities of unionized employees working throughout the Melt Shop, Caster, and Steel Yard; on occasion direct Maintenance personnel.
- Supervision of unionized employees, which includes, but is not limited to: communication of job expectations, planning, training, coaching/counseling, performance and attendance management, and issuing discipline.
- Enforce systems, policies, and procedures as they pertain to the safety, quality, and environmental footprint of operations.
- Responsible for utilizing a hands-on approach to effectively address technical and non-technical issues related to production, by recognizing potential problems and making critical decisions independently.
- Assure that safety processes, procedures, and protocol to ensure a safe work environment are being followed.
- Assist the safety team in safety investigations and organize and oversee emergency evacuations.
- Perform administrative activities such as scheduling (overtime, vacations, organizing the workforce as a result of absenteeism, layoffs, etc.), reviews employees times into the Kronos system, complete reports, conduct safety toolbox talks, Gemba walks, performance/ progress reports, compile data and various reports
