Chief Electoral Officer

Montreal Lake Cree Nation is seeking an experienced and impartial individual who is not a band member, not an immediate family member of Chief or Council, and not an employee or Contractor of MLCN to serve as Chief Electoral Officer for an upcoming election.

The Chief Electoral Officer will be responsible for planning, coordinating and administering the election in accordance with applicable legislation, MLCN election laws, policies and established procedures. Duties include overseeing the nomination process, voter eligibility and lists, ballots and voting procedures, election communications, polling arrangements, counting and reporting results, while ensuring the integrity, confidentiality and fairness of the electoral process.

Qualifications

Previous experience administering elections or working in an election-related role.

Strong organizational, communication and record-keeping skills.

Ability to work independently and maintain strict confidentiality.

Demonstrated impartiality, integrity and professionalism.

Knowledge of First Nations governance and electoral processes is an asset.

This is a contract position for the duration of the election process. Compensation and contract terms will be discussed with successful applicants.

Include a budget that contains the following: all costs of the General Election including the Fees for the CEO, 4 Deputy Electoral Officers (DEOs), polling clerks, all supplies of Polling Stations for all Polling Stations and preferred electronic voting platform. All contracts will have a 10% holdback for the CEO and DEOs for 30 days in the event of an Appeal to the Election Act.
