101719 - Equipment Operator

The Ministry of Highways is seeking a seasonal Equipment Operator for the Cadillac Section within Southern Operations. Candidates must possess a valid Class 1A or Class 3A licence and have knowledge of heavy equipment operation, maintenance, and servicing procedures related to tandem trucks, motor graders, front-end loaders, snowplows, and related attachments. Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, fuel, and lubrication systems is required, along with workplace safety, traffic control procedures, occupational health requirements, hazardous materials, and dangerous goods practices. Strong communication, critical thinking, digital, interpersonal, self-management, and health and safety skills are essential.

Duties include operating and maintaining heavy, medium, and light-duty equipment; performing summer highway maintenance and winter snow and ice control; conducting preventative maintenance and inspections; assisting with traffic control and work zone setup; maintaining operational records; conducting risk assessments; and supporting crew activities as required.
