100450 - Facility Youth Worker

The Ministry of Community Safety is seeking Facility Youth Workers to join the Prince Albert Youth Residence. This rewarding career offers the opportunity to contribute to safer communities, support positive change in the lives of youth offenders, work within a collaborative interdisciplinary team, and help young people successfully reintegrate into their communities. Successful candidates will receive paid 11-week induction training.

The ministry is looking for individuals who are accountable, collaborative, inclusive, adaptable, innovative, and committed to public service excellence. Candidates must be able to build meaningful relationships with youth, work effectively with diverse populations, demonstrate sound judgment in high-pressure situations, and contribute positively to team-based service delivery.

Required knowledge and skills include an understanding of the Canadian criminal justice system, adolescent development and behaviour, and Indigenous culture, history, and related social impacts in Canada. Candidates must possess a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver's licence (or equivalent) and a valid First Aid and CPR/AED certificate with at least 12 months remaining before expiry. The position is typically suited to individuals with a university degree in Social Sciences or a related field, a diploma in Law Enforcement, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Facility Youth Workers work directly with youth offenders aged 12 to 17, balancing rehabilitation and accountability while maintaining a safe and secure correctional environment. Responsibilities include ensuring the safety and security of youth, providing assessment, counselling, case management and program delivery, applying legislation and policy, working with youth from diverse cultural and personal backgrounds, assessing risk, supporting interdisciplinary teamwork, and responding to incidents using appropriate intervention strategies.
