As a Public Health Investigator, you will support Alberta’s public health regulatory system by conducting complex investigations into serious, systemic, or high-risk non-compliance with public health legislation, regulations, and regulatory standards.
In this role, you will

Support enforcement and accountability by assessing evidence against legislative and regulatory requirements and recommending appropriate enforcement actions or other regulatory responses. You will prepare investigative briefs and supporting documentation and contribute factual evidence to hearings, appeals, reviews or court proceedings.
Promote consistent investigative practices across Alberta by providing investigative advice and expertise, contributing to investigative procedures and operational guidance, identifying trends and systemic compliance risks, and recommending improvements that strengthen regulatory effectiveness.
Build collaborative regulatory partnerships by working with Executive Officers, Medical Officers of Health, legal counsel, law enforcement, regulatory partners and other government organizations to coordinate investigations, obtain information and support effective regulatory decision-making.
Strengthen compliance and deterrence by identifying recurring patterns of non-compliance and emerging risks, contributing to regulatory intelligence and enforcement reporting, and recommending policy, procedural or legislative improvements that support long-term compliance and public confidence in Alberta’s regulatory oversight system.
