Sask Polytech runs this at the Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Moose Jaw campuses, plus distance delivery to regional partner colleges. Includes a clinical practicum in long-term care so you graduate with hands-on experience.
The same Sask Polytech curriculum is delivered through the seven regional colleges in partnership, so you can study closer to home than Saskatoon or Regina.
The equivalent Alberta pathways. If you train in Alberta, your credential is portable to Saskatchewan and most other provinces.
NorQuest delivers the Government of Alberta HCA Provincial Curriculum and runs one of the largest HCA programs in Canada. Includes 320 hours of practicum across three placements.
Bow Valley delivers the same Alberta HCA Provincial Curriculum 2019 in person or online-synchronous. Graduates take the Alberta HCA Registration Exam and register with CLHA.
Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), employer requirements (no formal regulatory college)
CCAs are not registered with a regulatory college the way RNs or LPNs are. Instead, the Saskatchewan Health Authority and private long-term care employers set hiring requirements: typically a Sask Polytech CCA certificate plus current CPR and Standard First Aid, plus a clear criminal record check.
