If you want to help make a difference in the lives of male youth in Moose Jaw, we have a great opportunity for you! The Youth Mentor will assist in executing the Shared Services Mentorship Program in Moose Jaw, SK. This program is offered in various elementary schools around Moose Jaw & at a YMCA program site. This position requires you to build relationships with male youth, act as a positive role model & facilitate meaningful workshops to Youth Mentorship groups throughout the week to students in grades 1-12. This position works 25hrs/week & some evening work may be required.

Responsibilities

Implement programming in a school & small group setting.

Creating & facilitating interactive workshops for a small group of male youth ages 6-15.

Building relationships & providing mentorship to male youth referred to YMCA Mentorship Program

Comply with all YMCA Child Protection Policy & Procedures & complete all Child Protection Training as required.

Communicating program success & activities to program participants, their family & through the Y network.

Requirements

Ability to build relationships & work with male youth is an asset, especially those with challenging behaviours

Self-motivated & be able to work independently as well as part of a small team.

Experience & interest working with male youth & lessons/program planning

Demonstrate the ability to be a positive role model, mentor & authentic leader

Good communication skills & interpersonal skills.

Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check prior to first day of work & dated no more than 3 months before hire date

Updated CPR & First Aid upon start date.

Valid driving licence.
