About this role
In this role, you will be responsible for providing radiation support for the operations, which includes:
- Managing the as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) program, radiation procedures, and controls
- Collecting, maintaining, and recording radiation data from the facilities
- Issuing of radiation work permits
- Developing quality control procedures and training of staff
- Managing power air purifying respirator (PAPR) cleaning and training personnel specific to site demands
- Conducting routine monitoring and assessing work conditions pertaining to radiation protection for the safety of all workers
- Providing advice to the operation related to radiation safety
- Assisting with any CIRS investigations and providing guidance for corrective actions on any radiation related incidents
Required
- radiation or environmental monitoring technician certificate or a post-secondary education in a science-related field;
- five to eight years of applicable work experience with radiation protection principles;
- equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered;
- experience managing a team;
- excellent communication and analytical skills;
- team player with the ability to work independently with safety as a core value; and
- work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.
Recommended
- experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft excel, and database applications;
- mining experience, specifically at a uranium mine site;
- experience as a member of the Occupational Health Committee (OHC); and
- an aptitude and desire to become a member of the emergency response team.
