Radiation Protection Officer

In this role, you will be responsible for providing radiation support for the operations, which includes:

• Managing the as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) program, radiation procedures, and controls
• Collecting, maintaining, and recording radiation data from the facilities
• Issuing of radiation work permits
• Developing quality control procedures and training of staff
• Managing power air purifying respirator (PAPR) cleaning and training personnel specific to site demands
• Conducting routine monitoring and assessing work conditions pertaining to radiation protection for the safety of all workers
• Providing advice to the operation related to radiation safety
• Assisting with any CIRS investigations and providing guidance for corrective actions on any radiation related incidents

Required

• radiation or environmental monitoring technician certificate or a post-secondary education in a science-related field;
• five to eight years of applicable work experience with radiation protection principles;
• equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered;
• experience managing a team;
• excellent communication and analytical skills;
• team player with the ability to work independently with safety as a core value; and
• work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.

Recommended

• experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft excel, and database applications;
• mining experience, specifically at a uranium mine site;
• experience as a member of the Occupational Health Committee (OHC); and
• an aptitude and desire to become a member of the emergency response team.
