Programs Coordinator

There is a Permanent Full-Time Library Assistant II position in Programs Services starting 26 October 2026.

Duties

• Responsible for the operation of the Programs Services Department, including coordinating staff, scheduling, monitoring performance, developing programs for library patrons, long-term planning, budgeting, grant applications, preparing statistics and reports, liaising with community groups, news outlets, and other library departments, website, calendar, and social media updates
• Library reference and other duties including basic computer support, advance reference services for patrons, assigned collections development tasks, special project as assigned, and other duties as required.

Required Qualifications for External Applicants

• Must have a Diploma or Degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or other related field, or a Library Tech Diploma or Degree.
• Must have a valid drivers license and access to mode of transportation.
• Desired to have 5 years working in related field or public libraries.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or possess a valid work permit or study permit that authorizes employment.

Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

• Good people skills; able to maintain effective working relationships and proven ability to provide courteous and friendly public service, and to handle all situations with resourcefulness and tact
• Proven ability to organize time and activities, delegate tasks, meet deadlines, to work independently, and as part of a team
• Skilled in the use of electronic resources, library and office software, and basic computer troubleshooting
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
