Policy & Communication Director

The Policy and Communications Director works directly with the Executive Director to support the organizations strategic goals, growth, and ongoing Reaching Home operations. The position supports the planning, development, and implementation of homelessness projects, policies, and initiatives aligned with organizational objectives and Reaching Home directives.

The Director develops and maintains strong relationships with sponsors, funders, community partners, government, and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and engagement. The position contributes to organizational policies, proposals, grant applications, promotional materials, and communications that reflect the organizations mission, values, and impact.

Key Skills & Qualifications

Bachelors degree in business, commerce, administration, human resources, marketing, or related field; a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.

Experience in budgeting, accounting, organizational development, policy, and governance.

Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with websites, publishing, video editing, and social media platforms.

Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and public speaking skills.

Experience in project development, proposal and grant writing, research, data collection, and resource development.

Knowledge of Reaching Home, community housing and homelessness systems, HIFIS, and Coordinated Access are assets.

Knowledge of Indigenous cultural practices, Indigenous processes, history, and the relationship between Indigenous experiences and the homelessness crisis. Applicants must demonstrate cultural awareness and understanding of Indigenous history and its connection to homelessness in their cover letter.

Bachelors in Commerce, HR, Marketing. Experience will be considered.
