Income Support Coordinator

Flying Dust First Nation Health & Human Services department is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to provide support to clients on-reserve. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Income Support Coordinator will assist on-reserve clientele to ensure that eligible individuals and families residing on-reserve receive funds to cover the basic expenses of daily living and to support their transition to self-sufficiency. He/she must ensure that all cliental information/documentation are conducted in a responsible, confidential, trustworthy manner.

Distribution of Income Assistance Support cheques bi-weekly and/or monthly.

Sending and receiving referrals from other agencies or First Nations,

sending and receiving internal/external referrals from different resource programs (e. i Jordans Principal, Addictions, etc.)

Interview clients with preparing budget and decision sheets and applications,

Assist clients with support such as: career planning, education & training, government forms, health cards, birth certificates, (etc. 18-65)

Assist clients with mental health support and one-on-one counselling when needed.

Send referrals to Mental Health Councilors, and Addiction.

Relevant Social Work Degree would be an asset or minimum of 2 years experience of relevant training/work experience may also be considered.

Experience in working with First Nations Income Assistance Program

Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector is mandatory

Knowledge/Understanding of First Nations values is an asset

Experience in working with First Nations Administration, preferably in the Income Assistance Program (IAP). Ability to interpret, understand and apply IAP Policy.

Ability to use a computer database, electronic spreadsheets and some understanding of basic accounting concepts

Attention to detail, numerical accuracy and strong organizational skills are required.
