Geo-Technician (1 Year Term) - Saskatoon

What youll accomplish

Provide field-based logistical and technical support for exploration/development programs. These duties include:

o    Assist with drill core related activities (measuring, labelling, radiometry, moving full core boxes)

o    Down hole probing data acquisition, QAQC, processing & interpretation

o    Infrared Spectrometry measurements on drill core (TerraSpec)

o    Physical property measurements on drill core (density, resistivity, magnetic susceptibility)

o    QA/QC of infrared spectrometry and physical property results

o    Provide written / oral presentation of results

• Provide logistical and technical support projects as directed. These duties include:

o    Maintain the efficiencies of the Exploration warehouse in the shipment, receiving, maintenance, and storage of exploration equipment/supplies

o    Maintain inventory lists, maintenance checklists, and instrumentation logbooks

o    Assist with annual calibration checks of radiometric probes and radiometric equipment

Qualifications and skills

• Geophysical/Geological technologist or technician diploma
• Experience working at exploration sites and/or logistically difficult areas is an asset
• Mechanical/electronic knowledge and skills considered an asset
• Excellent computer skills; familiarity with Geosoft, WellCAD, AcQuire, and Microsoft Excel would be an asset
• Ability to physically work in difficult and isolated conditions
• Class 5 drivers license
• Experience operating snowmobiles/ATVs is an asset

Work Location & Schedule

• Partially a field-based position in Northern Saskatchewan; isolated exploration camps or mine sites on a two to three week in and one week out field rotation during field programs
• Partially based at Saskatoon Corporate Office or Exploration warehouse
• Normally a 10-hour workday in the field and 8-hour workday in Saskatoon office
