Drafting and Design Technician

The Design and Drafting Technologist is responsible for creating, updating, and managing detailed technical drawings and designs for engineering and manufacturing. This role collaborates with engineers, production, and project teams to translate conceptual ideas and requests into precise technical drawings, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and specifications. The Technologist utilizes CAD software to produce 2D and 3D models and drawings and plays a key role in supporting project documentation and revisions.

Primary Responsibilities

Create 2D and 3D models using Autodesk CAD Software

Create consistency across current and new models and drawings

Develop detailed technical drawings (sales and manufacturing) based on sketches, specifications, and design concepts

Ensure drawings meet organizational and industry standards

Collaborate with engineers, production, other team members to resolve design challenges and refine details

Maintain and update the organizations CAD and drawing standards including title blocks, styles, and formatting

Perform calculations and material specifications as required for design accuracy and feasibility

Maintain accurate records and organize drawing files within the company's document management system

Review and revise drawings based on feedback or changes in project scope

Participate in the rapid prototyping and alternative design processes (layout jigs, fixturing, product, equipment, etc.)

Create digital representations of product models

Supports research and development

Qualifications

A diploma in Engineering design and drafting technology, Design and Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or relevant diploma.

1-2yrs experience.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks).

Effective communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical team members.

Ability to read and understand engineering drawings of all disciplines preferred.
