The Early Learning Centre Cook at Smarty Pants Academy, under the guidance of the Director or Assistant Director, manages kitchen operations and prepares nutritious meals and snacks for up to 45 children. Responsibilities include planning and serving meals in appropriate portions, managing food and supply inventory, placing orders, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and following food safety, health, licensing, and organizational requirements. The cook must use equipment safely, monitor kitchen and storage areas, communicate professionally, and work independently while collaborating with the team. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, current First Aid and CPR, and Safe Food Handling certification; food-service education and at least one year of experience preparing meals for children are assets. The role requires strong organization, time management, communication, and flexibility, as well as a clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check. This position involves extended standing, physical tasks, and adherence to meal schedules.
