Duties & Responsibilities
Designs and facilitates education, prevention and/or counselling/therapy groups for wellness/mental health issues and concerns.
Provides assessment and referral services as required.
Liaison and case conferencing with MLTC and FDFN service providers including Justice, Education, Home Care, CHN, CHR, MCH, Family Support, Social Administrator.
Preference will be given to applicants with a Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma
3 5 years of experience in community-based programs.
Broad range of knowledge and experience in service provision in areas including but not limited to mental health, crisis intervention, trauma, sexual abuse, suicide, family violence, developmental delays, addictions, Fetal Alcohol syndrome and Effects, Residential School syndrome, interpersonal relationships, communication, stress management, self-esteem, management of anxiety.
Individual, family and group counseling skills
Experience working with first nations and sensitive to their culture, values, and beliefs
Proficient with computers, i.e., Microsoft Office.
Possession of a valid drivers license.
Must provide a current RCMP Records Check.
Provides culturally relevant mental health counselling.
Serves as a vital member of the community crisis intervention team, providing individual, family and critical incident stress management as needed.
Completes and submits monthly reports for Wellness/Mental Health reporting system (EMR) & FDFN.
Ensures that all client files are up to date, complete and maintained in a secure and confidential manner.
Supports planning for work plans, community development events geared to Wellness/Mental Health issues.
Supporting the development of preventative mental health activities and initiatives
Participates in staff meetings
Participates in professional development and training as required.
