About this role
MNEA John William Head Memorial Education Centre is seeking a motivated and experienced Commercial Cooking Instructor to deliver engaging culinary training that prepares students for careers in the food service and hospitality industries. The successful candidate will provide hands-on instruction in commercial food preparation, kitchen operations, food safety, nutrition, and workplace readiness while fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver commercial cooking and culinary arts instruction.
Teach food preparation techniques, menu planning, baking, cooking methods, and presentation skills.
Instruct students in safe food handling and sanitation practices in accordance with health regulations.
Demonstrate proper use, care, and maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment.
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized kitchen and classroom environment.
Integrate workplace skills, professionalism, teamwork, and customer service practices into instruction.
Develop lesson plans, practical assessments, and training materials.
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
Collaborate with school staff, industry partners, and community members to enhance student learning opportunities.
Support students in obtaining industry certifications and preparing for employment.
Qualifications
Required
Certificate, diploma, or journeyperson certification in Commercial Cooking, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
Experience working in commercial kitchens, restaurants, catering services, or food service operations.
Current Food Safe or equivalent food handling certification.
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen management practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse learners.
