About this role
Duties include ability to create a positive experience by welcoming patients. They should have strong communication skills. Preparing and updating patient files with personal and health information at each encounter. Schedule appointments for patients, using electronic medical records. Assist patients with existing appointments, check them in, and give directions to the relevant room they will be using.
Promote patient safety by maintaining a clean and hygienic environment. Clean medical equipment. Assist in light cleaning.
Operate a telephone system to answer, screen, forward telephone calls, take messages, and provide information as required. Provide clerical duties including transcribing, faxing, printing, scanning, and emailing. Mediating between patients and healthcare providers. Expedites communication of urgent results. Setting up and stocking examination rooms. Knowledgeable with computer software such as Microsoft Office. High organizational skills. Taking patient height and weight at each clinic visit. Comply with all safety policies and procedures in the work area, including the use of protective equipment when necessary to prevent exposure to potentially infectious agents. Comply with strict patient confidentiality requirements. Participate in training/retraining and continuing education programs as necessary. Relevant training and/or certifications in Clinical Assistant.
