Claims Administrator

• *SUMMARY:**

The Claims Administrator works closely with Council to advance claims settlements and related requirements. The position supports legal workers, researchers, government agencies, financial institutions, trustees, and land administrators in ongoing claims, trust administration, land management, land purchases, and reserve creation processes. The Administrator keeps Council informed of trust fund status, claims progress, and related activities.

• *DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• *

Work with Council, staff, trustees, and Indigenous Services Canada to advance claims processes.

Administer Zagim Anishinabk Settlement and Trust Agreements in accordance with their requirements.

Support land management, land selection and purchases, and additions to reserve processes.

Coordinate with financial institutions and trustees regarding financial processing, management, and planning.

Coordinate Council meetings and assist with land purchases and administration.

Assist Council with policy development, financial and management planning related to settlement and trust agreements.

Maintain effective communication among Council, trustees, land administrators, legal representatives, government agencies, and other partners.

Support ongoing claims research and projects, including records, budgets, and communications.

Participate in community and group presentations as required.

• *CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:**

Full-time, 8:00 a.m.4:00 p.m., at the Zagim Administration Centre.

Reports to the Governance Manager, with overall accountability to Council and the Executive Director.

Participation in health insurance and pension programs.

Works closely with the Governance Manager, land administrator(s), Council Clerk, and Executive Director.

• *QUALIFICATIONS:
• *

Certificate or Diploma in a related field and three (3) years experience in land claims research or similar government administration.

Strong financial skills considered an asset.
