Apprentice Machinist

A Machinist Apprentice learns to create precise metal parts by operating manual and CNC machines, reading blueprints, using precision tools (micrometers, calipers), and performing tasks like turning, milling, grinding, and assembly, working under experienced machinists to develop skills in material science, metrology, and quality control to meet exact specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and maintain various machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders) for sawing, turning, milling, drilling, etc., including high-tech CNC machines.

Blueprint Interpretation: Read and understand engineering drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequences.

Precision Measurement: Use micrometers, calipers, and other instruments to verify part accuracy against specifications.

Part Assembly & Fitting: Assemble machined parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools.

Setup & Tooling: Prepare tooling, fixtures, and workpieces for machining operations.

Maintenance: Maintain, repair, and calibrate measuring instruments.

Learning & Safety: Follow safety protocols, learn industry standards, and document work.

NOTE: This is a full-time, onsite, permanent position. You must be legally able to work in Canada. The ability to commute or live in the Battlefords area is a pre-requisite.
