Accountant

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the accountant role will support accounting operations of the association including accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, government remittances & month-end & year-end processes

Responsibilities

Provide accounting support for the Association's financial records

Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoice processing, customer billing, payment processing, & collections

Perform bank, credit card, & general ledger reconciliations & investigate discrepancies

Support month-end & year-end financial close including preparing adjusting journal entries

Process vendor payments in accordance with organizational policies

Assist in preparation of related government remittances, GST, PST, & other regulatory filings in compliance with applicable legislation

Support budgeting, forecasting & financial analysis

Assist with external audits by preparing reconciliations & supporting documentation

Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards, regulatory requirements, organizational policies & internal controls.

Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Commerce

1-2+ years of accounting or full-cycle bookkeeping experience

Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles

Proficiency with advanced MS Excel (VLOOKUP & Pivot Tables) and experience with Blackbaud FE and/or Activenet is considered an asset

Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank & credit card reconciliations, financial reporting, & month-end close

Excellent attention to detail, analytical & problem-solving skills
