The Fleet Services Branch is seeking motivated Apprentice Mechanics to work alongside Journeyperson technicians in the Prince Albert Fleet Shop. This position is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals interested in developing their skills in the repair and maintenance of highway construction and maintenance equipment. Candidates should be adaptable, safety-conscious, collaborative, and committed to continuous learning.
Applicants must possess a second, third, or fourth-year apprentice certificate in the Truck Transport, Heavy Duty, or Agricultural Technician trades. Candidates who have completed mechanical pre-employment training may also be considered. Strong communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and health and safety awareness are required. Travel, including occasional overnight stays, may be required.
Responsibilities include assisting with inspections, maintenance and repairs, diagnosing mechanical issues, operating fuel, hydraulic, electronic and computerized systems, servicing equipment, and supporting equipment maintenance and expenditure tracking.
