Job Information
Based in Yellowknife, the Territorial Specialist Autism Disorder collaborates and consults with regional and community teams to provide family and patient centered care, for individuals who have suspected or diagnosed ASD, to all 33 NWT communities. The incumbent will monitor the delivery of the individual's intervention plan and act as a resource for best practice ASD interventions to families, rehabilitation teams and other service providers.
Key Responsibilities
Understanding of and clinical expertise in the delivery of evidence-based rehabilitation services specializing in the field of ASD.
Knowledge of neurobiology, child and adolescent development, behaviours and learning.
Knowledge of community resources, policies and procedures of NTHSSA and Department of Health and Social Services and all Acts and Legislation applicable to the program delivery.
Knowledge of and ability to operate word processing applications (e.g. Microsoft Word) to complete training materials and presentations, electronic mail to send and receive
correspondence and the internet to conduct on-line research.
Skills in communicating and interviewing techniques are required in both written and verbal forms; effective listening skills are essential to fulfill the demands of the position.
Ability to work effectively with families and professionals in addressing the special needs of children with ASD or other disabilities.
Key Qualifications
This level of knowledge is most obtained through a master¿s degree in a Rehabilitation Services discipline and three years of relevant experience.
Additional Requirements
Must be licensed with a provincial college and certified with the national association of their respective field.
Proof of Immunization in keeping with current public health practices is required.
NTHSSA has several certifications that are required upon hire, depending on the area where the employee works, including but not limited to: Indigenous Cultural Awareness, Biohazardous Waste, Biosafety and Biosecurity, Infection Control, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and others directly related to the incumbent's scope of practice.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $56.99 per hour to $68.06 per hour (approximately $111,131. - $132,717.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
