Job Information

As a member of the school team, you will support students with special needs and/or students requiring additional assistance to participate in learning and achieve success. You will assist with instruction, provide encouragement and day-to-day support, and work with teachers and other staff to help create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Your work will have a direct impact on students and their families by supporting student engagement, skill development, and success in school and beyond.

Key Requirements

Grade 12 diploma.

Related training in supporting students with special needs, such as post-secondary education or professional development, including GNWT or TCSA workshops.

A minimum of six (6) months of relevant experience working with children or youth in an educational, recreational, or supportive setting.

Relevant experience may include

Substitute teaching or working as a student support assistant;

Daycare or day camp work;

Camp counselling; or

Coaching children or youth under 18.

Working Conditions

Work takes place primarily in a school environment.

Regular interaction with students, teachers, families, and other school staff is required.

The position may involve supporting students with diverse learning, behavioural, and physical needs.

Duties may require periods of standing, walking, and assisting students with daily activities.

This Job opening is for a Part-time position (32.5 hours of work per week).

The salary range for this position is from $37.90 per hour to $45.27 per hour (approximately $64,051 - $76,506.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $5,610, pro-rated to the number of hours worked.
