The Department of Labour and Immigration is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Worker Advisor in Winnipeg. Duties
The Worker Advisor is appointed under Section 108 of The Workers’ Compensation Act and works independent of the Workers Compensation Board (WCB). The Worker Advisor role involves providing workers and dependants with assistance, advice, and representation on WCB claims and appeals. The incumbent is also tasked with assessing services, policies, and legislation by participating in committees to make recommendations for enhancing the Worker Advisor Office.

Qualifications
Essential
Post-secondary education in social sciences or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
Experience interpreting, applying and explaining legislation and/or policies
Experience analyzing and assessing large amounts of technical written material, such as correspondence, reports, opinions and statements
Strong organizational and case management skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple cases and meet deadlines
Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills with the ability to identify effective solutions to problems
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work various stakeholders, mediate conflict situations, and handle sensitive, highly-charged situations with tact and empathy
Effective written communication skills with the ability to present information and articulate ideas clearly to a variety of audiences
Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to discuss and present information clearly and persuasively in formal and informal settings
Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams) or similar software applications.
Desired
Knowledge of community support and services, with experience making referrals.
