Duties
Reporting to the Park Regional Manager for training-related activities and to the Birds Hill Park Work Supervisor for day-to-day operational requirements, the Operator Trainer is responsible for delivering training to Staff across the region and verifying their competency in the safe and effective operation of heavy equipment and small hand tools.
The incumbent also provides workplace health and safety training to regional staff as required. When not conducting training activities, the Operator Trainer operates a variety of construction and maintenance equipment used within the Parks program, including wheeled and crawler tractors, tandem trucks with air brakes, backhoes, loaders, and motor graders, among others.
Qualifications
Essential
Experience providing coaching training in person and or classroom setting.
Extensive experience operating and maintaining park-related heavy equipment, such as tractors, loaders, backhoes, motor graders, and tandem trucks
Experience performing routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs to ensure safe and efficient operation
Proficiency in using computer software and technology-related tools
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with employees, coworkers, and stakeholders
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently and contribute effectively in a team environment.
Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to provide effective training, coaching, and guidance to others
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to create clear and effective training materials.
Conditions of Employment
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must have the ability to successfully complete the Train the Trainer program delivered by the Manitoba Trucking Association.
Must be willing to travel with occasional overnight stays.
Must be able to work weekends, overtime, evenings, and statutory holidays as required.
Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working outdoors for extended periods of time under various weather conditions.
