The Digital Design and Delivery (DDD) division is the Government of Alberta’s centre of digital delivery. It partners with ministries to design simpler, faster, and better services; build capability and confidence in modern digital practices; and assure service quality and value through standards and controls. Multidisciplinary product teams are assigned priority GoA projects and employ an agile, product-oriented approach in providing solutions for ministry partners.
Within DDD, the Software Delivery Branch provides architectural leadership, CloudOps, DevOps practices, quality engineering, and software delivery excellence across product and platform teams. The Application Manager is critical to ensuring and integrating effective solution and service delivery of all the Digital Design and Delivery (DDD) functions across the allocated portfolio of ministries in Software Delivery.
Role Responsibilities
The Software Delivery Branch is looking for a Manager of Energy. Reporting to the Associate Director, this position is critical to ensuring and integrating effective solution and service delivery of all the DDD functions across the allocated portfolio of ministries in Software Delivery. This includes strategic planning and ensuring the delivery of application changes, contract management and vendor management. Work performed will utilize Incident, Problem, Change, Project, Service and Capacity Management principles to achieve innovative solution resolving complex requirements.

as a core part of their Application Manager role.
The responsibilities of this role include
Lead and enable high-performing software development teams to deliver secure, user-centric, AI-enabled digital services.
Drive delivery excellence through effective planning, resource allocation, risk management, and continuous improvement.
Champion modern engineering, DevOps, cloud, security, and AI best practices to ensure quality and consistency.
Provide people leadership through coaching, performance management, talent development, and workforce planning.
Foster collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing across teams and communities of practice.
Build and maintain strong partnerships with business, technology, and external stakeholders to achieve strategic outcomes.
Oversee contract, vendor, and procurement activities, ensuring compliance with Government of Alberta policies and standards.

Qualifications
Requirements
A university degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology), supplemented by four (4) years of progressively responsible, related experience.
A cover letter clearly demonstrating relevant skills and competencies tailored to this position.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with:
Leading software development teams in agile, product-centric environments and delivering high-quality digital products and services.
Managing and supporting the full contract management lifecycle, including vendor engagement, contract administration, and performance monitoring.
Applying software development principles, modern delivery methodologies, and best practices to support successful project and product outcomes.
Utilizing emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to improve service delivery and business processes.
Equivalencies
A related master’s degree and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience; or
A related two-year diploma and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience; or
Assets
An AI & Machine Learning certification from a recognized cloud provider (AWS, Google, Microsoft, or IBM).
Proven experience identifying opportunities for AI-enabled solutions and partnering with product, data science, and operational teams to deliver business value.
