Reporting to the Executive Director of Status of Women and Inclusion, the Director manages the operation, implementation and/or improvement of programs to increase women's economic participation and support the needs of multicultural communities through various funding programs, community engagement and Advisory Councils. The Director develops and maintains relationships across ministries, community not-for-profit organizations, Advisory Council Chairs/Members and community leaders/advocates.
Key Responsibilities Include
:
Provide strategic leadership for the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of grants, scholarships, multiculturalism and anti-racism programs to ensure services are responsive to the needs of Alberta’s ethnocultural communities.
Lead the development and implementation of community-based grant programs and initiatives that advance government priorities related to gender equality, gender-based violence prevention, women's economic participation, multiculturalism, anti-racism, and community capacity-building.
Provide accurate, timely, and strategic advice to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Executive Director, and senior leadership on complex, politically sensitive, and emerging program issues, including risks, mitigation strategies, and implementation considerations.
Support oversight of program administration, including financial management, forecasting, reporting, and resource allocation to ensure effective use of public funds and achievement of intended outcomes.
Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of program performance measures, evaluation activities, and reporting requirements.
Develop and maintain strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders, community leaders, and sector organizations across Alberta.
Oversee responsibility for three external advisory councils and maintain strong working relationships with council members.
Provide leadership and direction to a multidisciplinary team in a complex, evolving, and politically sensitive environment.
Foster a high-performing, collaborative, and inclusive team culture focused on results, continuous improvement, and professional excellence.
Collaborate with other branch and divisional leaders to strengthen alignment between policy, programs, and stakeholder engagement functions.
Anticipate emerging issues and opportunities related to program delivery and community engagement and initiate options and recommendations for executive consideration.

Qualifications
Minimum Recruitment Standards
University graduation in a field related to the position assignment, supplemented by six years progressively responsible experience.
Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
Depending on the statutory or unique requirements of the position, specific qualifications may apply.
Preference will be given to candidates with post-secondary education in
Arts, Public Administration
or a related field.

Progressive responsible senior management experience in a service‑oriented, complex organization with accountability for program delivery, stakeholder engagement, and operational outcomes.
Knowledge of Alberta’s ethnocultural, multicultural, and newcomer communities, including governance, social, and political dynamics affecting program delivery and engagement.
Experience in policy and program development, with a strong understanding of how approved policy direction is translated into programs, services, and community‑based initiatives.
Ability to develop, maintain, and sustain effective working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders of diverse cultural backgrounds, including community organizations and cross‑ministry partners.
Experience identifying and understanding broad trends, anticipating emerging community needs, and addressing complex delivery and engagement issues in dynamic environments.

Demonstrate success translating policy direction into program and service design, implementation, and evaluation.
Collaborate with diverse populations, community organizations, and cross‑ministry partners to deliver programs and engagement initiatives.

This is a
seven-month
temporary opportunity with the potential for extension, subject to operational requirements.
Final candidates will be required to undergo a criminal records check (CRC) or an Enhanced Security Screening Level 1.
