Women & Family Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator will deliver the Honouring Our Families: Women and Family Justice Program, supporting the safety, wellbeing, and resilience of Indigenous women, children, youth, and families through culturally grounded, trauma-informed programming and community-based supports.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and deliver culturally grounded wellness, healing, and family programming.

Coordinate sharing circles, cultural teachings, land-based activities, and community gatherings.

Support participants with wellness and safety planning, referrals, advocacy, and system navigation.

Provide education and activities related to family violence, gender-based violence, healthy relationships, and community safety.

Connect participants with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, cultural supports, and community services.

Assist participants in navigating justice, housing, health, employment, and social service systems.

Build relationships with community organizations and service providers.

Plan family-friendly and intergenerational cultural activities.

Track program activities and participant engagement and complete required quarterly and annual reporting.

Participate in training, evaluation, and project activities coordinated by AFCS.

Qualifications

Experience working with Indigenous women, children, youth, families, and communities.

Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and community-based approaches.

Understanding of trauma-informed practice, family violence, gender-based violence, and barriers to accessing services.

Strong communication, facilitation, organizational, and relationship-building skills.

Experience in community programming, human services, justice, social work, or a related area is an asset.

Relevant education, training, lived experience, and/or community experience will be considered.
