Ulility Person

A utility person at Southern Industrial handles general labor,  yard organization, putting stock away and facility upkeep. They support heavy-duty mechanics, load and unload freight, manage scrap or waste bins, and ensure the shop and fleet yards remain clean, safe, and fully operational,

RESPONSIBILITIES

•     Shop and Yard Maintenance: Sweep floors, empty industrial trash, power-wash equipment, and keep the compound organized.
•     Equipment Operation: Safely operate forklifts, loaders, tella handler, pallet jacks, and company yard trucks.
•      Mechanic Assistance: Retrieve tools, hold materials, move parts to shop for install, help service techs as needed.
•      Inspections & Building Upkeep: Conduct regular checks on building, safety systems, and grounds to spot potential hazards.
•     General Repairs: Fix or maintain minor repairs such as, plumbing leaks, change or test lighting or fixtures, repair doors or locks etc.
•     Parts and Warehouse Support: Unload incoming freight, stock heavy truck and oilfield parts on shelves, and help pull parts for shop mechanics or counter sales.
•     Equipment Servicing: Maintain or repair shop tools.
•     Record Keeping: Log completed work orders, track maintenance supplies, and report major structural problems to management.
•      Safety and Compliance: Follow site rules, manage used oil or filter disposal, and report any workplace hazards immediately.
