About this role
We are currenting recruiting for a Teacher to work as part of a team dedicated to the treatment and success of the female youth in our care, age 12-17. Reporting to the Program Manager or designate, the Teacher is responsible for the academic program that provides literacy and numeracy learning opportunities for clients.
The Teacher will plan, prepare, and deliver the educational program designed to meet the varying academic levels and needs of the students. The Teacher will support, observe, and record the progress of their students while keeping up to date with developments of subject areas, new resources, new methods, and teaching objectives. The role involves liaising and networking with other professionals, parents, and community representatives, both informally and formally. The Teacher will also support cultural diversity by learning and participating in cultural programming.
Minimal Requirements
- A Bachelor of Education Degree with a Professional A Teaching Certificate and one year of directly related experience OR a Vocational Certificate (SK) with competencies in teaching Math, English, Communication Skills and Indigenous studies and three years directly related experience.
- A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Ability to use de-escalation skills.
- Knowledge of accepted and effective techniques for working with at risk youth.
- Intermediate computer skills including the use of internet and computer-based learning.
- Demonstrated knowledge of First Nations culture and language.
- A valid class 5 drivers license and a reliable means of getting to work.
- Ability to provide a clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check.
Salary: $28.75 to $34.68 per hour, or $59,800 to $ 72,134.40 annually
