Job Duties & Responsibilities
Verify accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments by examining contents and comparing with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders
Prepare documents such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials
Determine shipping method for materials using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates and review of carrier rates on a regular basis
Record shipment data such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes
Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials
Deliver or route materials to associated department(s) in timely fashion using applicable work orders in association with purchase orders
Drive the parts truck as required
Operate forklift in a safe manner to move product
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
At least 1 year experience in a similar position within a related industry
Grade 12 or equivalent
Must be able to drive and operate a 1 ton flat deck truck
Forklift operator certification required
Valid drivers license with clean drivers abstract required
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Experience with handling and unloading of heavy equipment with safety being of the upmost importance
Prior chain and rigging experience is a definite asset
Exceptional customer service and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work well under pressure with a strong attention to detail
Able to deal with people tactfully and professionally at all times
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
