Secondhand Store Manager

Position Summary

The Store Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operation, and development of Break Free Outreach Ministries Inc.s purpose-driven social enterprise - Back To Life Secondhand Clothing & Home.  This role ensures the store operates with excellence in retail standards while advancing Break Frees mission to empower individuals and families to find hope, purpose, and opportunity. The Store Manager reports to the Executive Director (or designate) and works in alignment with the mission, vision, and Evangelical Christian values of Break Free Outreach Ministries Inc.

Oversee all day-to-day store operations, including opening/closing procedures

Ensure the store is clean, organized, safe, and well-merchandised

Establish and maintain consistent retail standards, including displays, pricing, and product flow

Oversee donation intake, sorting processes, pricing, tagging, and inventory rotation

Monitor product quality and ensure items meet store standards

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and operational policies

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, flow, and customer experience

Recruit, schedule, supervise, and support staff and volunteers

Provide clear direction, expectations, and ongoing support to team members

Lead the hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluation processes

Provide hands-on training in retail operations, customer service, and workplace expectations

Support individuals who may be new to employment in developing job readiness skills

Oversee cash handling procedures, POS systems, and daily sales reconciliation

Monitor sales performance, inventory levels, and store trends

Support budgeting, planning, and operational decision-making
