VIDO is seeking a motivated Research Technician to join Dr. Bettins research group. The Bettin laboratory investigates porcine T-cell biology, with a focus on mucosal immunity and tissue-resident memory T cells. The research program aims to better understand how porcine tissue-resident T cells develop, function, and contribute to protective immunity, with future applications to vaccine and infectious disease research. The laboratory also develops and optimizes tools to advance the study of porcine immune responses.
Laboratory techniques routinely used include flow cytometry, ELISPOT, ELISA, primary immune cell isolation and culture and antibody validation and purification. In addition to experimental work, the successful candidate will contribute to the general operation of the laboratory. Responsibilities include ordering supplies, maintaining reagent and sample inventories, and assisting in the training of students. The position will involve work in a Containment Level 2 (CL2) environment. The successful candidate will bring curiosity, initiative, and a strong interest in immunology.
Qualifications
A technical diploma or undergraduate degree in biology/immunology or related field
Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience in immunology, microbiology or related field
Experience with flow cytometry, immune cell isolations and functional immune assays is considered an asset
Experience in managing a research laboratory will be also an asset
Certification to work in a containment level 2 (CL2) laboratory
Status: 2 years, with possibility of extension
Employment Group: Non-Union
Shift: Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours per day (37.5 hours per week)
Full Time Equivalent (FTE): 1.0
