About this role
Veritas Law LLP is a general practice law firm looking for a permanent part-time receptionist/legal administrative assistant. Hours are from 12 pm to 5 pm with some full days to cover days off for the part-time legal assistant. The right candidate MUST have a vehicle.
Duties include, but are not limited to
- handling communication: answering and directing incoming calls, emails and faxes; drafting correspondence
- communicating with clients to receive information
- preparing, formatting, proofreading and filing legal documents
- printing, sorting and organizing high volumes of materials
- managing calendars: scheduling appointments, court appearances, meetings and tracking deadlines
- organizing and maintaining case files (physical and electronic) utilizing knowledge of legal records and procedures and handling confidential materials and documents
- doing deliveries to law offices, banks, Court
- managing billing and expense reports: entering billable time, disbursements and preparing invoices
- provide administrative support and office upkeep
- maintain confidentiality of client and firm information
The ideal candidate for this position will
- have a minimum of 1 year experience in a law office
- strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures and document formatting
- familiarity with court rules and forms
- have strong attention to detail
- have strong interpersonal and communication skills
- be able to work independently
- be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- be able to follow multi-step instructions
- have strong organizational and time management skills to meet tight deadlines
- be proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- be professional in handling sensitive information
- be comfortable managing repetitive tasks
- be able to do bank runs, deliver documents to the Court and other law offices.
Competitive pay is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
