About this role
Crosskey Marketing Inc. is seeking experienced Railway Conductors to support rail operations at a private industrial yard in Unity, Saskatchewan. The Conductor will work as part of the rail operations team to safely switch, move, and position railcars within the facility.
We are seeking candidates for full-time, part-time and casual positions. Please indicate in your cover letter the type of employment you are seeking. Lodging is provided while working in Unity.
Responsibilities
- Maintain strict adherence to operating rules, operating procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Be able to provide and receive both verbal and printed instructions concerning the movement and placement of rail cars.
- Be able to effectively communicate with customers.
- Provide clear and accurate radio and hand signals during switching operations.
- Build and split up trains in the yard, switch cars, spot cars to required customer tracks
- Perform required inspections of railcars and equipment and identify and report defects.
- Maintain situational awareness and have a strong commitment to safe railway operations.
Qualifications
- Prior qualification and experience as a railway conductor is a requirement.
- Physically fit, including the ability to pull self up and down from a railcar on a continuous basis, able to couple and uncouple air hoses, able to secure railcar brakes, derails, and switches.
- Physically capable of climbing, walking on uneven surfaces, and working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective radio communication skills.
- Ability to work safely with minimal supervision.
- Applicants are required to hold a valid driver's licence.
- Employment is conditional upon passing CROR rules examination and railway medical.
